Born in Newmarket in Q3-1897 to Arthur and Emily Elizabeth BONEHAM (née MARCHANT) of 19 Lisburn Road, Newmarket.

1901 census...Henry O. [3] was with his father Arthur [28] a stableman, born Tamworth, Staffs; his mother Emily Elizabeth[28], born London and his brothers William Arthur [4] and George Frederick [1] and sister Jenny Olive.[2]. The children were all born in Newmarket.

1911 census...Harry was with his grandmother Susan MARCHANT at 11 Nat Flatman Street, Newmarket. The rest of the family were still at Lisburn Road. His father was now a turf correspondent. Additions to the siblings were sisters Ethel [9], Florence [7] and Ivy [3] also brothers Sidney [5] and John [1]. All were born in Newmarket. His brother William had died in 1902.

His grandmother was still at No 11 Nat Flatman Street on the pension card


The day he died his battalion were operating as working parties, in very bad weather, in the sector between Shrapnel Corner and the Menin Road. It was a dirty, dangerous job, repairing or strengthening trenches, usually at night but always subject to enemy fire. Shrapnel Corner was just outside Ypres, the first cross road after the Lille Gate on the road to Armentieres.
Henry was the only one of his battalion to be killed that day

Harry is buried in Birr Cross Road Cemetery, Belgium Ref: I.D.1
and on the Roll of Honour of All Saints School.
